摘　　要：V.S.奈保尔是当代英语世界最为重要的作家之一,美国读者最多的文艺期刊——《纽约时报书评》曾多次提及他的名字及作品。作为一位别具一格的作家,奈保尔的创作一直密切关注后殖民社会的现实与人生境况;他信赖创作中的直觉与激情、强调形式与内容的独创性但反对脱离实际的纯粹虚构;他同时认为,一定的审美距离感是进行写作的必要条件。V. S Naipaul is one of the most important writers in the modem English world, whose name and works have been mentioned repeatedly in Book Reviews of New York Timesw-a literary and artistic periodical with the largest readership. Naipaul, a unique writer, has long been concerned in his writings with the reality and life condition in the postcolonial society. In his writings, he relies on his intuition and passion, emphasizing the originality of form and content while opposing the pure fictiousness dissociated from reality. Meanwhile, he opines that some aesthetic distance is the condition necessary for literary writing.
