摘　　要：二十多年来,国内外学者关注并致力于被称为“杂交水稻第四遗传要素”的水稻最上节间伸长基因EUI(ELONGATEDUPPERMOSTINTERNODE)的发现、研究和利用。在最近的2年时间里中国科学家成功地完成了EUI基因的鉴定、分离和功能解析,重要研究结果发表在国际著名期刊上。The EUI （ELONGA TED UPPERMOST INTERNODE） genes, known as ＂the Fourth Genetic Element in Hybrid Rice Production＂, attracted many scientists all over the world in the past 20 years. The characterization, genetic isolation and functional annotation of these genes were successfully accomplished by Chinese scientists in the last two years, and recently their achievements were published in the famous international journals.
