摘　　要：本文概括了基于内容的图像检索的现状,基于内容的图像检索的必要性。本文也描述了现行的基于内容的图像检索的主要技术,一些商业图像检索系统的特点,检索系统的性能,以及这个领域今后的发展方向。This chapter summarises the current state of the content based image retrieval （CBIR）. It discusses the necessity of content based image retrieval. And it also describes the main techniques currently used to retrieve images by content at both primitive and semantic levals, describes the features of some commercial CBIR systems, and outlines possible future of development in this field.
