摘　　要：Ostracodologists from 36 countries attended the 15th International Symposium on Ostracoda in Berlin last September. Four days filled with scientific sessions, workshops and a mid-symposium fieldtrip attracted 160 participants. As expected, the scientists from Germany were the but surprisingly they were closely followed by a large delegation from Japan, which had hosted the previous 14th meeting in Shizuoka. Under the slogan ＂Ostracodology--linking bio- and geosciences＂, the 15th International Symposium on Ostracoda, mainly organized by Michael and Ulla Schudack, Steffen Mischke, Benjamin Sames and Rolf Kohring from the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Freie Universitaet Berlin, assembled the international community of biologists and palaeontologists working on ostracods or using their shells. This was the second time that the meeting was held in Germany, the first being the 5th meeting in 1974 in Hamburg more than 30 years ago. In comparison with the meeting in Shizuoka, the number of participants in Berlin increased by more than 50%, probably mainly due to the good accessibility of the venue for participants from Europe.
