Objective To study the effect of air - conditioning environment on the erythrocyte membrane hpid of guinea pig in order to provide an evidence for studying the erythrocyte deformability in air - conditioning environment further. Methods Twenty-four guinea pigs were averaglly divided into two groups. The guinea pigs in the control group were fed with water and food in a well ventilated room for 15 days. The guinea pigs in the experimental group were fed with the same water and food in air - conditioning room in which the temperature was 22℃ for 15 days. Five milliliter blood derived from the heart of each guinea pig and heparin sodium was used as anticoagulant. The erythrocytes were separated and the susspension of the erythrocyte membrane was prepared. The cholesterol and phospholipids contents of the erythrocyte membrane were detected by UV256 ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Results The evel of cholesterol of the erythrocyte membrane significantly increased and the phospholipids significantly dereased in the experimental group compared with the control group ( P 〈0.01). Conclusion The airconditioning environment can produce the change in the composition of erythrocyte membrane lipid and influence the erythrocyte deformability.
