摘　　要：随着计算机技术的快速发展,地理信息系统GIS技术日趋成熟,并在国防、城市规划、交通运输、环境监测和保护等关键领域发挥了重要作用.文章对GIS的相关问题进行了探讨.首先介绍了GIS的概念,比较了GIS与其他信息系统的不同,然后分析了当前GIS的研究状况和应用方向,最后提出了GIS今后的发展趋势.With rapid development of computer technology, geographic information system （GIS） technology has also made a great breakthrough, and becomes mature. GIS technology plays an important role in many critical areas, e.g., nation security, city planning, transport schedule, environment monitor and protection. This paper introduces the conception of GIS, describes the difference of GIS and other information systems, analyzes the status of research and application and predicts the GIS future.
