摘　　要：美国的社区学院诞生于19世纪后期,一百多年来它为美国的经济发展、高等教育大众化进程作出了巨大的贡献。本文考察了社区学院发展的四个历史阶段,并探究了它的教育职能在不同历史阶段的变化,希望能为我国建设社区学院提供思路。Community colleges in U.S. emerged in the late 19th, and they have made a great contribution for the development of economy and the course of popularization of higher education. This article makes a study of the four historic stages in the college development and the changes of the educational role in different historic periods. At the same time, some thoughts are put forward in building up Chinese community colleges.
