亨利·菲尔丁的文学理论及其对我们的启示

摘　　要：亨利.菲尔丁是18世纪的英国小说家、戏剧家。他的代表作《汤姆.琼斯》在主题的表现、人物的塑造、小说的结构、写作技巧等方面都为后来作家树立了榜样,被很多文学评论家看作是现代现实主义小说的典范,菲尔丁也因而被称为现实主义小说之父。然而菲尔丁的文学创作理论对其后文学创作的影响同样深远,更值得我们今天的学者进行深入研究。本文结合菲尔丁的代表作《汤姆.琼斯》,从文学创作者所应具备的条件、文学创作的原则、文学创作的源泉、文学的作用、文学批评等方面论述了菲尔丁的文学创作理论,旨在进一步加深对菲尔丁文学创作理论的研究,并从中得到启迪。Henry Fielding is a famous novelist and dramatist in the 18^th century. His masterpiece The History of Tom Jones, A foundling set a good example to later writers in the thematic presentation, character portrayal, plot construction and writing style and is considered by many critics to be the model of modern realistic novels, and its author Henry Fielding has been therefore called the father of realistic novels. His literary theory also has a farreaching influence on later literary creation and deserves thorough research of present-day scholars. This paper expounds on Fielding＇s theory of literary creation from the qualifications of a writer, the principles of literary creation, its function, and literary criticism, with a view to doing further research into his theory and getting some inspiration.
