摘　　要：《战地钟声》的主人公罗伯特.乔丹,是海明威小说人物画廊中一个复杂而独特的人物。他既是一个崇高的共和主义战士、反法西斯英雄,又是一个具有浓厚悲观色彩和鲜明人性化色彩的英雄,更是海明威一系列具有悲剧性抗争精神的个人主义“硬汉子”形象之一。乔丹形象的生命力恰恰来自于他的复杂和真实。Robert Jordan, the protagonist of For Whom the Bell Tolls, is a unique and complex image in the novels of Ernest Hemingway. He is not only a noble solider of Republicanism and a brave fighter against Fascism, but also a hero possessing deep pessimism and distinctive humanity. What＇s more, he is one of many code - heroes who are created by Ernest Hemingway in his novels. These code -heroes embody individualism of tragically resisted spirit. As a character, the vitality of Robert Jordan lies in his complexity and authenticity.
