曼斯菲尔德的《勃里尔小姐》与乔伊斯的《泥土》的比较

摘　　要：《泥土》与《勃里尔小姐》中的主题思想与人物处境大致相同,其他方面则有差别。乔伊斯对玛丽娅用的是嘲讽语气,在《勃里尔小姐》中也有反讽,但作者对老年的寂寞表现了更多的同情与深切的理解。玛丽娅与勃里尔小姐对故事结尾处最有意义的启示的反应则截然不同。现试将这部作品中的主题、顿悟、视角、语气、风格等做一比较。In Clay and Miss Brill, the theme and the characters＇ situation are about the same. Otherwise, there are marked differences. Joyee＇s tone is ironic. There is also irony in Miss Brill, but the author shows much more sympathy for and better understanding of the loneliness of old age. Maria and Miss BriU have entirely different responses to the revelation of the most significant moment at the end of the stories. Here a comparative study is made of the two stories in terms of theme, epiphany, point of view, tone and style.
