摘　　要：本文首先通过对宽带业务发展情况、ATM标准、ATM适配层的分析引出了ATM对B-ISDN发展的作用及向B-ISDN过渡的步骤,并指出开发具有SMDS和FR业务接口的ATM交换机,对实现N-ISDN向B-ISDN过渡具有积极的现实意义;其次介绍和分析了ITU-T,日本NTT及欧洲各国关于ATM和B-ISDN的标准化活动、应用试验等情况。On the analysis of broadband service development and ATM standards,this paper sums up the roles that ATM will play in developing B-ISDN and the slops of transition to B-ISDN. Then it addresses the significance of developing ATM switch with SMDS and FR service interface over the transition from N-ISDN to B-ISDN. Moreover, it describes what the ITU-T ,NTT and European countries arc doing about the standardization of ATM and B-ISDN.
