OBJECTIVE To observe the effects of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) on microcireulation dysfunction in septic shock rats. METHODS E. coli was injected intraperitoneally to produce septic shock models. Intestinal microcireulation and blood volume of ear auricle were determined dynamically by means of microcirculation observation system and laser Doppler perfusion flowmeter in control group (group C) ,septic shock group (group S) and treated group (group T) on 1 day and 3 day, respectively. RESULTS Blood flow of intestinal microcireulation obviously slowed down or stasised, blood vessel expanded evidently, numbers of vessel, loop and functional vessel were reduced significantly and more in group S on 1 d. Intestinal microvascular blood flow velocity, vessel numbers and functional vessel numbers in group T were obviously higher than those in group S and had no significant difference than those in group C. Blood volume of ear auricle in group S decreased obviously than that in beth group C and group T,while group T and group C had no significant difference. CONCLUSION rhGH treatment can obviously improve microcirculation in septic shock rats.
