摘　　要：摩天楼曾经是美国独有的现象。仅从技术发展、土地利用、商业效益的原因,无法全面解释摩天楼存在的必然。因为所有这些,不过是为了让这出人类非理性戏剧更加可信,而不得不尽可能妥善处理的理性细节。摩天楼表达的是人的欲望:冲击高度、显示财富、展现竞争、表明决心。总而言之,摩天楼就是力量。它诉诸人的心灵欲念,因此已经遍布全球。纽约摩天楼的故事,或许是至今最令人震撼和伤心的。Skyscraper was once a purely American phenomenon All interpretations are incomplete if one Forgets that the technological developments, land uses. commercial values etc., are but rational elements necessary to make this drama of human Jrrationality more convincing Skyscrapers represenl common human desires： reaching high to the sky,showing off wealth. displaying competence and demonstrating determinations, All in all, the skyscraper is power Because rL not only meets the eyes but speaks to hearts and souls, it can find home anywhere in the world. The New Yorkstory of skyscrapers is probably the most shocking and heart broken one so far .
