摘　　要：《英美小说叙事理论研究》是一部有分量的学术成果。本文将阐述它的三个主要特点:从内容上讲,该书跨越三个世纪,丰富博实;在方法上,研究者注重微观突破,理论细读运用得恰倒好处;就创新而言,研究者善于综合,把宏观透视和微观分析有机结合,能成一家之言。同时,论文还将说明,小说的学说,即叙事学,之所以大,是由小说本身的兼容性所决定的。小说融传、剧、诗、文、史于一体,这就是小说后来居上的原因,也是文类发展的一个基本规律。A Study in Narrative Theories of English-American Novels (2005) is an important achievement in recent studies of narrative theories. The article will examine the three dominant features of the book: broad vision, micro-penetration and creative synthesis. Meanwhile, the article will also show that the inclusiveness of theories of the novel, i.e. narratologies, is due to the “compatibility' of the novel. The novel is a genre which mixes romance, comedy, epic, prose, and history, a fact which accounts for the popularity of the novel in the past three hundred years.
