摘　　要：美国赠地学院的发展,促成了高等教育社会服务职能的诞生,为美国高等教育甚至世界高等教育的发展作出了重大贡献。美国赠地学院的办学特色非常鲜明,实用和技术主义的办学思想促进了教学、科研和社会服务三结合的高等教育体制的形成,以及政府对赠地学院建设所给予的资助等,都是我国高职教育发展过程值得学习和借鉴的地方。The establishment and development of American Land - grant Colleges has led to the enhance of the function of social service of the institutions of higher education, and made great contribution to the development of the world higher education. The characteristic of American land- grant colleges is that practical technology is especially stressed, which resulted the combination of teaching, research and social service. This feature and the investment of the government are valuable example for the development of the higher vocational education in China.
