摘　　要：乔伊斯.卡洛尔.欧茨的创作具有阐释生活的目的,她在早期作品中展现美国社会真实阴暗面的艺术目的在于唤醒当代社会对自身毁灭性命运的认识,提高普通人的思想意识,同时她还探索了20世纪现代悲剧文学可行的模式,这些源于其创作初期的悲剧性艺术观。arol Oates＇s writings have the aim of explaining life. The artistic aim of exhibiting the dark side of American soeiety in her early works is to awaken the comprehension of contemporaries to their devastating destinies and enhance their eonseiousness.Meanwhile she has also explored the available model of modem tragic literature in the 20th century. All these are deriw her tragic artistic view in her primary writings.
