摘　　要：洪业著《引得说》,是他创办哈佛燕京学社引得编纂处及编辑《汉学引得丛刊》实践经验的总结,也是其索引学的代表作。全书共分三篇,分别研究了索引理论、索引排检方法和索引编制方法。该书既重视理论研究,又重视实践操作,有方法,有实例,内容翔实,理论精深,堪称我国近代索引研究的开山之作。作者对该书的出版年代进行了考证,并对其在中国索引史上的地位进行了评价。William Hung created Index Editorial Offices of Harvard—Yenching Institute and originated Sinological Index Series. On Indexing was one of his magnum opus. The book Sets forth the theory and methods of compiling of indexes. It can be used as the monograph and the manual of index compilation and also could be called as a creative works of modern index research of China. This paper tries to textually research the publishing times of the book and evaluate its historical status in history of index in china.
