摘　　要：赵尔巽是清末湖南颇有影响力的巡抚之一。他凭借强大的背景、过人的胆识和坚韧顽强的性格．励精图治，锐意改革。在整顿吏治、发展教育、倡办实业、改良社会风俗等方面颇有建树,为推动湖南社会的近代化作出了重要贡献。ZHAO Er—xun is one of the most influential governors in Hunan in the last years of the Qing Dynasty. With his powerful background, his great courage and strong personality, he makes great achievements in consolidating local administration,developing education,industry and commerce and reforming some social customs,which helps with the modernization of Hunan.
