摘　　要：系统综述了地被植物的概念、分类及其在北京地区研究应用的历史与现状,分析了园林地被植物在科研与应用中存在的主要问题,在此基础上,简要阐述了地被植物的科研发展方向,并对其应用前景作了展望。To develop diverse ground cover plants in city greening, especially native species or varieties, has great significance. So we summarized the concept of cover plants, presented their history and current situation in Beijing area, and analyzed the main problems in their research and application. Based on all mentioned above, several directions that cover plant researchers should lay emphasis on were put forward, and the perspective of application was prospected.
