摘　　要：The essay gives an overview of Clara＇s tragic marriage in Sons and Lovers. In order to realize her self-fulfillment in marriage, Clara estranges from her husband, later she falls in love with Paul and cohabits with him. Due to lack of understanding of each other, they drift apart at last. The essay aims at showing that the capitalist industrial modernization in the end of 19th century destroys human being＇s happy life and twisters human being＇s character.
