摘 要:How to teach English texts to students in a more proper way? How to improve students' reading ability and writing skills through the analysis of a text? People have tried different approaches, such as text linguistics, or discourse analysis. This article, focusing on the author's speech act as well as the characters' speech acts, tries to analyze the text in terms of speech act theory, which may help students to understand and appreciate a text, thus developing their reading ability, improving their writing skills and providing a new approach to the study of literary works.
