A Skills-oriented Model of Subject-based English Materials Design

摘  要:With China's accelerated opening up to the outside world, students' learning needs have witnessed great changes. Thus, Specialty Reading Stage defined in College English Syllabus of 1985 as to develop students' reading ability in the fields of specialization has been renamed as Application and Advanced Stage in the Revised Version of College English Syllabus of 1999.To keep pace with this change, an adequate course design for SBE, especially the design of new materials is now in urgent need. This paper attempts to set up a skills-oriented and content-based model for SBE materials design based on both the evaluation of recent SBE materials home and abroad, and the relevant theories.
