摘　　要：在短篇小说《雨中的猫》中,海明威通过讲述寻猫故事———猫的出现、消失和再现等反映了美国妻子摆脱寂寞孤独的希望产生、消失及再现的过程,揭示了生活在战争阴影下的美国夫妇精神上的空无感,同时对具有良好传统美德的旅馆老板的刻画又为解决现代人的生存困境提供了希望。In the short story Cat in the Rain, Hemingway has reflected the wife＇s disappointment and hope towards getting rid of her loneliness by telling a story of seeking a cat..Through the cat＇s appearance, disappearance and reappearance, it not only shows the sense of nada of the American husband and wife living in the shadow of the First World War, but also provides a hope for removing the alienation, loneliness and desperation by depicting the Italian hotel keeper with conventional good human qualities.
