摘 要:本次研究运用定量和定性相结合的方法探讨了中国非英语专业大学生在英语阅读理解中如何解读篇章回指语,重点研究了篇章回指的类型、回指项与先行项之间的距离,潜在的先行词的竞争等因素是否制约篇章回指确认。结果表明,名词回指比指示代词和人称代词更难解读,篇章距离与潜在先行词的竞争等因素会共同影响回指确认。该研究验证了相关篇章回指理论尤其是可及性理论的有关假设。This study investigates Chinese EFL learners' processing of anaphoric ties in reading comprehension through both qualitative and quantitative methods, with an emphasis on whether such factors as the anaphora type, the distance between an anaphor and its antecedent, and the competition of potential antecedents may govern the processing of anaphorie ties. The results show that definite noun phrases are more difficult than demonstratives and personal pronouns ;factors like distance and competition may work together influencing the interpretation of anaphors. The study provides strong support for the related hypotheses, especially, the Accessibility Theory.
