摘  要:Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),a highly conserved heparin-binding protein,was found originally in vascular endothelial cells and showed a high potency for angiogenesis and endothelial proliferation.VEGF can induce collateral growth in the ischemic tissue and therefore,is used in the treatment of ischemic vascular disease.Recently,Endogenous expression of VEGF mRNA and VEGF has been observed in neuronal cells,and its expression is up-regulated by ischemia-reperfusion.Besides its role on angiogenesis,recent evidence indicates that VEGF can also act directly on neurons to produce neurotrophic and neuroprotective effects.Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a highly conserved heparin-binding protein, was found originally in vascular endothelial cells and showed a high potency for angiogenesis and endothelial proliferation.
