摘　　要：结合小波变换中多分辨率分析特性以及多级矢量量化复杂度低、量化效果较好的特点提出了一种基于小波变换的多级矢量量化图像编码方法。在使用多级量化的基础上采用联合优化多级矢量量化的码本设计方法,进一步提升量化效果。试验数据表明,该方法相对于传统的矢量量化算法,量化效果进一步提高,复杂度也在可接受范围之内,达到了很好的压缩编码效果。A multi -stage vector quantization algorithm based on wavelet transform for image coding is proposed in this paper. According to the theory of multiresolution for signal decomposition in the wavelet representation,and the characteristic of multistage vector quantization. In order to improve the quantization quality, we introduce an algorithm for the joint design of the stage codebooks to optimize the overall performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance improvement is achieved with the encoding or Storage complexity acceptable.
