Objective: To observe the protective effects of shenyansiwei granules(SG) on glomerulonephritis, acute renal injury and immune function in animals. Method: The renal protective effects of SG were studied in the models of glomerulonephritis induced by Heymann antigen, water-loaded and acute renal injury induced by HgCl2 in rats. The immunity modulating effect of SG weredetected by the rate of abdominal phagocytosis of macrophage in normal mice and the contents of serum hemolysin( HC50 )both in normal and immune suppressed mice induced by Cyclphosphamide(Cy). Result: SG could obviously decrease the urinary protein,BUN and Cr in glo-merulonephritis rats( P 〈 0.05 or P 〈 0.01 ), diuretic in water-loaded rats ( P 〈 0.05 ) and increase the urine volum ( P 〈 0.05 ), decrease the BUN and Cr of rats with glomerulonephritis( P 〈0.05 or P 〈0. 01 ) in the acute injuryrats induced by mercury mercury crloride. SG could evidently activate the phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophage in normal mice and inhibit the decrease of HCw in mice treated with CY. Conclusion: SG were shown to have the effects of activating blood circulation to removing blood stasis, cleating away heat and toxic material and supplementing kidney and benefiting ventilation, which could be used for the treatment of chronic nephritis.
