摘　　要：构建社会主义和谐社会是宏大的社会系统工程,许多工作都不是某一领域单独可以解决的问题,需要动员社会生活的各个方面共同推进。体育在以经济建设为中心的历史时期,其社会功能就得到了社会的高度重视。在现阶段我们应该进一步开发体育的社会功能,把体育运动作为控制社会稳定与发展的工具,使其在构建社会主义和谐社会历史进程中发挥重要的作用。Constructing the socialist harmonious society is a grand social system engineering. A lot of work can not be solved singly in a certain field, but instead, it needs the help from every side of the society. The social function of PE has been highly emphasized during the historical period when people focus on the economic construction. At present, we should further develop its social function, taking the sports activities as the tool to control the social stability and development, and making it important in constructing the socialist harmonious society.
