摘　　要：Tennessee Williams is one of the greatest American playwrights. He is known for his powerfully written psychological dramas. This paper aims to conduct a study of the techniques Williams uses to externalize the characters' psyche in The Glass Menagerie; thus to obtain a better understanding of his play. To achieve this goal, the characters' language, the characters' actions, and some subsidiary theatrical devices have been studied.Tennessee Williams is one of the greatest American playwrights.
