摘　　要：贝利尼歌剧《清教徒》在纽约大都会歌剧院沉寂10年后重返舞台。该剧是贝利尼一生中最后，也是最富音乐表现力的一部作品。故事以英国内战为背景，从一支清教徒军队被反派斯图加特王朝军队围攻开始。但2006年12月27日演出当晚，敌人似乎并不是斯图加特王朝军队，而是空气中弥散着的病菌。Bellini＇s three-act opera I Puritani returned to the Metropolitan Opera after an absence of ten years. Because of bronchitis, the young tenor Eric Cutler, who was to sing the role of Arturo （Elvira＇s lover）, was replaced by Gregory Kunde. Recovering also from bronchitis, the fine young bass-baritone John Relyea played the role of Giorgio（Elvira＇s uncle） as scheduled. The Met＇s stage manager, however, made an announcement before the performance that Relyea requested the audience＇s indulgence because of his illness. Luckily, Russian soprano Anna Netrebko appeared as scheduled in the performance. Her performance as Elvira was so outstanding that she became the star of the night.She received such prolonged ovation after the mad scene of Act Ⅱ that it almost threatened to disrupt the performance, which was conducted by Patrick Summers.
