摘　　要：This paper contends Sophia＇s journey to London is actually a process of fleeing in the pursuit for self-fulfillment. From the perspective of gender studies, this paper applies textual analysis to illustrate comparing with other female characters in the novel who have a different way of self-fulfillment, Sophia has fulfilled herself or obtained her happiness through her happy unite with Tom Jones. The paper thus concludes that Sophia＇s journey does not merely refer to a travel, but a woman＇s persisting pursuit for happiness.
