摘　　要：警察职能是不可或缺的,它是国家职能的重要组成部分。警察职能决定、影响着警务理念和具体的警务方式。为适应瞬息万变的社会变化与发展,警察职能也在不断变化和发展。通过考察可以发现,警察职能呈现出扩张与收缩交替进行、平衡发展的特点。实践证明,把握警察职能发展的规律对于适时调整警务方针、更好地履行警察职责,从而更加有效地维持社会治安、服务公众,具有重要意义。The functions of police are indispensable and a part of the functions and powers of the state. The functions Of police decide and affect the concept of police service and the way of concrete police service. In order to adapt to the fast changing and developing Society, the functions of police have been changing and developing. It has been discovered through study that the functions of police are noted for expanding and contracting in turn and balanced development. It has been proved by practice that it is important to master the law of development of the functions of police, to adjust the principles of police service in good time, to perform the duties of police .better, to maintain public Order more effectively and to serve the public.
