摘　　要：Strictly speaking, sciatica is a syndrome caused by various causative factors, but not a simple disease. 1 It is a syndrome induced by the pathologic changes of the sciatic nerve itself or its surrounding structures, characterized by pain in the path of the sciatic nerve and its distributing areas. From Jan. 1994 to Nov. 2001, we treated 72 cases of sciatica by catgut point-embedding therapy and obtained quite good-results. Meanwhile, a control study was made in 47 cases treated by prednisolone block therapy.
