摘　　要：尤金.奥尼尔的悲剧创作与他的家庭生活、个人精神和心理状况有着千丝万缕的联系,创伤记忆成为他悲剧创作的心理动力、创作素材和源泉。《奇异的插曲》是奥尼尔对母亲形象的塑造,也是他创伤记忆的自我疗救。它使奥尼尔的紧张抑制得到了宣泄,能量得以释放,自我心理达到相对的平衡。The thesis aims to explore the close relationship between the traumatic experience of Eugene O＇ Neill and his play writing, the former of which had become his motivation for art creation during his hard years. The Strange Interlude is a case in point. In it, he created the variant image of his own mother with the purpose to relieve his depression after experiencing tremendous trauma and to achieve a balanced psychological state of mind and thus to return to his inner peace. Thereby the thesis tries to prove the above viewpoint through an analysis of the protagonist Nina and the playwright＇s won mother.
