摘　　要：语用学是一门古老而年轻的学科。其内容早在古希腊、古罗马时期便受到学者的关注。但直到1986年,语用学才作为一个相对独立的语言学分支得到国际学界的承认。介绍了语用学的渊源、研究领域、主要流派,以及语用学在中国的发展情况。Pragmatics is an old but young discipline. Although it drew attention from scholars in the early period of old Greece and Rome, it was not considered internationally as an independent discipline until 1986. This article addresses on the origin, the research domain and the different schools of pragmatics. It also discusses the development of pragmatics in China.
