摘　　要：本文展现了20世纪20年代京津地区外文报纸从北洋军阀统治晚期到南京政府统一全国初期被层层挤压、无法立足的衰落过程,并对后期中国政府和中国人民打击外报的缘由、手段,以及效果进行深入分析。外报的衰落标志着中国民族报业逐步摆脱外国势力,进入一个新阶段。Based on the precious materials collected from various old English newspapers in the late 1920s, this article illustrates the process of decline of foreign newspapers published in Peking and Tientsin. It shows that the foreign newspapers enjoyed an advantageous status during the reign of Peiyang Warlords, while squeezed out step by step by the Nanking Government when China was basically united. It also analyzes the reasons, means, and effects of the control from Nanking Government, and of the boycotts from the Chinese people. As an important period of time in the history of press in China, the decline of foreign newspapers marks a new period for Chinese national journalism, which is worthy of further studies.
