摘　　要：People adopt conversational strategies to accomplish a successful communication. But cultural factors have a great impact on the techniques. Primary dimensions developed by Hofstede give us a clear picture of different cultural differences in the West and East. High context and low context distinguish the role of explicit language codes in different cultures. People with different cultural backgrounds should be aware of that and explore some approaches to bridge the gap.
