Objective To study NF - kB activity, ICAM - 1 and IL - 6 level following shock - asso- ciated lung injury and the effect of Shenfu injection on them in rats. Methods 33 SD rats were randomized into three groups each consisting of 11 rats: Sham- operated control group( C group) ,shock group( S group), Shenfu injection group( SF group) ,shock models were induced by hemorrhaged from the femoral artery to the mean arterial pressure of 35 mmHg,1 hour later,S group were resuscitated with twofold volume lactated Ringer's solution, whereas SF group with Shenfu injection. The activity of NF - lB and the level of ICAM - 1 in lung were detected by immunohistochemical technique, and the level of IL -6 in lung were measured by ELISA method. Results The activity of NF -kB ,the level of ICAM -1 and IL-6 in S group were significantly higher than those in C and SF group(P 〈 0.01 ),and the activity of NF -kB, the level of IL -6 of lung tissue in SF group were higher than those in C group (P 〈0.05). Conclu sion Shenfu injection can inhibit the activity of NF - kB, decrease ICAM - 1 and I L - 6 level ,alleviate shock- associated lung injury.
