摘　　要：袁复礼是中瑞西北科学考查团中最重要的中国学者，科技史学者对袁复礼在考查团中工作的评述，多集中于他在古生物方面的重大发现。文章着重对其在考查团成立前的考古工作，考查团组建过程中的角色以及在担任中方团长后发挥的作用做一简要评述。文章指出，袁复礼的西方留学背景和在考查团成立前的考古工作经历使他成为参与考查团工作的最佳人选；以他为代表的温和派为考查团最终成功组建做出了建设性贡献；自1929年代理中方团长后，他又为考查团在新疆的各项工作有效开展付出了巨大努力。Yuan Fuli was obviously the most important Chinese scholar in the expedition to the northwestern provinces of China from 1927 to 1933. Previous researches focus on his palaeontological discoveries in Xinjiang. This paper, however, aims to discuss his archaeological background before the expedition, his constructive effort during the organization of the expedition and his outstanding job as the acting director of the expedition from 1929 to 1932.
