摘　　要：薇拉.凯瑟在《死神来迎接大主教》中通过对印第安人建筑风格、风俗习惯、宗教传统、生活方式的描述,再现与大自然融为一体的印第安文化,传播印第安人尊重大地的深层道德,为今天工业化社会缓和文明与自然的紧张关系提供了借鉴,促使人们深刻思考人在自然界的地位以及人与自然的关系。Death Comes for the Archbishop is an exploration of American Indian culture, in which nature is respected and loved deeply by American Indians. The novel provides a good example for people in industrialized society who should ease the tension between civilization and nature and explore what role human beings should play in nature.
