基督教文化传统、哥伦布与英国历险小说中的土著形象

摘　　要：本文主要从形象学理论出发,研究基督教文化传统与英国历险小说中土著形象间的关系。文章认为,基督教文化传统作为英国民族的社会集体想象物,是英国历险小说中土著形象的源头。哥伦布航海的经历也对英国历险小说中土著形象的刻画有相当的影响。而历险小说中对土著形象的负面刻画在客观上又强化了英国民族原有的文化心理,从而为18、19世纪的英国殖民主义者的冒险开拓和殖民掠夺提供了理论和心理依据,使历险小说实际上成了帝国主义的文化宣传。Based on the theory of imageology, this paper mainly analyses the relationship between Christian tradition and the imagery of natives in English adventure fiction. The author holds that Christian tradition, the most important cultural heritage of English nation, serves as a source of the natives' imagery in English adventure fiction. Columbus' discovery of the New World has also influenced the depiction of the natives in English adventure fiction. Moreover, the negative description of the natives in English adventure fiction strengthens the English cultural imagination about the natives and actually justifies the English colonialist expansion and plunder, therefore making English adventure fiction a kind of cultural propaganda of English imperialism.
