Objective and Method:The aim of the present study was to determine the cardiac electrophysiological responses of ischemia preconditioned (IP) isolated rat heart separately perfused with blood and Krebs-Henseleit solution using Langendorff apparatus. The investigations were divided into four groups:group A:Blood perfusion+IP;group B:K H solution perfusion+IP;group C:control of group A;group D:control of group B.Determinations of diastolic threshold (DT),effective refractory period (ERP),ventricular fibrillation threshold (VFT) were performed and EKG recorded at different intervals.Changes of DT and ERP showed no statistical siginficance. Results:During the period of ischemia and reperfusion following ischemia preconditioning, ventricular fibrillation thresholds were markedly increased and incidence of arrhythmias was significantly reduced in both blood perfuseds and Krebs-Henseleit solution perfused ones as compared with the values of their control groups. However, there was significant difference between group A and group B.Conclusion:The results indicate the cardiac protective effects of ischemia preconditioning on isolated rat hearts were similar in both blood perfused and crystalloid solution perfused groups.
