广东茂名盆地始新世哺乳动物化石的发现

摘　　要：记述了发现于广东茂名盆地始新世油柑窝组的一种哺乳动物化石——杨氏路南兽(相似种)Lunania cf. L. youngiChow,这是该区首次发现哺乳动物化石,对该区古近纪地层划分与对比以及进一步研究我国南方古近纪哺乳动物群的分布与演化具有重要意义。A fossil of mammal Lunania cf. L. youngi Chow was collected from the Youganwo Formation in Maoming Basin of Guangdong province. The species is represented by a left lower jaw with the lower cheek teeth of p2 - m2 and impression of c （ Sysu-M-1 ）, and the lower molar of this species resembles that of Lunania youngi Chow from Lunan Basin and Lijiang Basin, Yunnan province, but differs from the latter in having bigger m2, more reduced paraconid, paralophid and cristid obliqua. It is the first report of fossil mammal in this area. The discovery of this fossil mammal is important for further study on distribution and evolution of Paleogene mammals of South China.
