摘　　要：对社会语言学这一交叉性、边缘性学科进行综述,从社会语言学的基本概念、兴起及发展历程、研究对象和内容、研究范围和主要流派等方面对它进行简单介绍,使读者对社会语言学的产生发展及现状以及社会语言学在中国的发展特点有大致的了解,从而进一步促进人们对社会语言学的学习和研究。The paper discusses the definition, the study domains, the main content and the conditions for the birth of Sociolinguistics as an intersecting and peripheral subject. Moreover, it also illustrates some influential schools that made their contributions to it, thus gives readers an overview and some general knowledge about the development of Sociolingustics at home and abroad. It is hoped that this article will contribute to the understanding and systematic study of Sociolinguistics.
