Irrigation with reclaimed water is an important way to deal with water shortage of agricultural production and solve the problem of sewage pollution. The reaction of crop antioxidant enzyme system is an early-warning indicator responding to changing of environmental factors. Using fresh water and raw wastewater as controls, the pot experiment was carried out to study the reaction of peroxides(POD), superoxi dedismutase (SOD) activities and malondialdehyde(MDA) in leaf of maize (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) irrigated with second grade and third grade reclaimed water. The results showed that the second grade reclaimed water had some negative influence on antioxdase system of maize in seedling stage, and the system decreased in later stage of maize; the third grade reclaimed water had no significant effect on antioxdase system of maize. Irrigation with reclaimed water had little influence on antioxdase system of soybean in seeding and reap- ing stage, but resulted in some oxidization stress in blossom stage. These results are very useful for safe irrigation with reclaimed water in agrlcultural production.
