Parody is an intentional imitation of a conventional expression for the purpose of conveying meaning other than that of the original one, with phonological parody only concerning phonological imitation. In the use of phonological parody, two texts are involved, one being the parodistic text which is perceivable in the utterance, while the other being the original text which is invisible in the utterance but can be perceived by the communicators. The original text and the parodistic text are in autonomy-dependence alignment. The research on the cognitive mechanism of phonological parody mainly touches upon two questions: (i) how the invisible original text is applied in the initial step of the imitation; (ii) how the original invisible text is nipped along accordingly to the visible parodistic text in human beings' cognition.
