摘　　要：新加坡威权主义体制的出现与运作是与新加坡独立后的独特国情相适应的,实践也已经证明,这种体制在新加坡现代化进程中发挥了决定性作用。但进入20世纪80年代以后,人民行动党长期以来形成的赖以治国的威权模式面临挑战,这一挑战促使新加坡政治民主进程得到较大幅度的推进。人民行动党在选择回应政治民主化挑战的路径时呈现出明显的自然性与主动性特征,即人民行动党主动地、自觉地主导了政治民主化进程。新加坡的政治民主化进程完全操纵在人民行动党手中,但要完成政治转型还有很长的路要走。Emergence and operation of Singapore authoritarian system, which has been proved playing a decisive role in the course of Singapore＇ s modernization, is compatible with the special national conditions of Singapore after independence. Since the 1980s, the authoritarian system depended by the People＇s Action Party for a long time has been faced a challenge, which advance the Singaporle＇ s political democratic process. The People＇ s Action Party presents the obvious characteristics of naturalness and initiative while meeting the challenge of political democratization, in other word, the PAP guides the process of political democratization initiatively. The process of Singapore＇ s political democratization has been completely manipulated by the PAP, and perhaps it still has a long way to go.
