摘　　要：探讨反语的语用功能,能够解释在日常语言交际中反语大量使用的认知心理动机。反语可以表达礼貌,缓和批评,保护说话人,抵制反驳,建立交际平台。因此,反语不仅是一种修辞手段,而且是一种交际策略。Study of the pragmatic functions of irony reveals the psychological and cognitive motivations for the wide use of ironies in communication. Irony can express politeness, mute criticism, protect the speaker/writer, resist refutation or disapproval. Therefore, irony is not just a rhetoric device, but more a communication strategy.
