摘　　要：隐喻是人类认知的工具,它深深根植于人类的语言、思维和文化中。理解隐喻不能脱离其所处的背景环境。由于历史文化环境的差异,中英文中关于爱情的隐喻也大相径庭。Metaphor is an important cognitive tool which is deeply rooted in people＇s language, thought and culture. Appreciation of metaphors can＂ t stay away from the background where they exist. Due to differences in historical environment, love metaphors in Chinese and English differ greatly.
