摘　　要：曼斯菲尔德的《园会》是现代主义短篇小说的杰作之一,作者用自然的笔触去表达一种平淡却韵味深长的气氛,通过儿童的视角表达了少女劳拉从园会完美无缺的幸福中觉醒,认识到人生原本就不完美,快乐和悲伤,生命和死亡贯穿着整个生活。象征手法的运用是小说的一大特色,小说中各种意象,场景都极富寓意,给读者无限的遐想,引导人们对现实生活更真切的理解。主要从主题、人物、及重要的场景的象征意义来分析劳拉内心的变化历程以及作者蕴藏在文字背后的人生感悟。The Garden Party by Mansfield is one of the best modern short stories. The writer creates a plain but appealing atmosphere in natural language. From the point of view of little Laura, the fulfilling happiness marked by garden party comes to be unveiled, Laura accidentally begins to observe the reality of life in which life and happiness are always accompanied by death and sorrow. Beside Mansfield＇s personalized narrative style, beautiful, elegant language, various symbols in the story also contribute to the vivid picturing of characters and their inner worlds. Based on the analysis of the symbolic meanings of theme, characters and important settings, this paper tries to give insights into Laura＇s changing values on life and Mansfield＇s own insightful understanding of the world.
